As I work most of my portraits directly from photographs it is important for me to have enough of them to get all the information I need. Sometimes this can achieved through just one photograph but in most cases several are needed to get a true likeness. When choosing your photographs, please choose one main photograph that you want your artwork to look most like. In this photograph it is important that the person is sitting in the same position and at the same angle as you want them to appear in the finished piece. The other photographs you choose should support this first one giving information that is perhaps missing from your main photograph or that you wish to incorporate. Perhaps you want them to be wearing different clothing, or have a different hair style or facial expression. That's all possible so long as you make sure you can provide photographs that give that extra information. Further photographs may also be necessary if your main photograph is not of the best quality. If this is the case, find photographs that are of good quality to support it. If in doubt, please feel free to email me at enquiries@desperateicons.com. I am happy to give guidance wherever it is needed. Photographs can be sent over the internet attached to an email or the originals can be sent through the post. If you choose to send them via email, please make sure they are of a high quality. If you don't have the facilies to send your images over the web or you'd rather send the originals by post, rest assured they will be cared for very carefully and returned to you along with your finished artwork via recorded mail.
