Specialist Portraits:
When I began portrait painting, I worked from photographs of popstars, actors and models in order to hone my techniques. I enjoyed it so much that I began to sell them with some success. It seemed I was not the only one who enjoyed them.
Indeed, in a world where religion has become all too often part of the scenery, there's no denying that the famous are the new gods of our modern era. And who better the subjects of modern art than the famous? They are enigmatic, beautiful and practically as important to us as members of the family.
A painting can reveal so much more of them than a simple photograph. It's the mature version of a groupie poster if you like, displaying admiration and respect for the individual or group without all the fanaticism. A portrait of the modern times, a modern icon if you will.
